We followed a group of Btech students from CPUT to the 2015 Afrikaburn festival in the Tankwa Karoo, the goal was to show people how precious water is utilising design as a medium and the stark environment as a platform. Essentially – what can be more precious than water in the desert?

Donal O’Neill the creator of the successfully funded kickstarter documentary Cereal Killers asked me to come up with a concept as an alternative for split testing the movie banner via various affiliate websites.
The original image is the movie cover with Donal submerged in a coffin of cornflakes.
The second option that we shot together is a physical and figurative contradiction in black and white.

While passing some time the other day I went on a little photo walk in Hout Bay harbor shooting things completely different to what I normally do, it was quite refreshing and a nice way to look at a place I’ve seen many times before with fresh eyes. I’d recommend all photographers remove themselves once in a while and shoot something different or even very simple and see what you can find in your images. I experimented with a few grades on these, some with a bit of pop, some quite flat with a film like tone and a couple B&W ones for good measure.
